Tommy O’Connor Parkinson’s Fight Back Foundation
The Tommy O’Connor Parkinson’s Fight Back Foundation was founded by Tommy O’Connor.
His personal connection to Parkinson’s inspired him to take action and create something that could make a real difference to others living with the condition. Tommy saw first-hand how Parkinson’s can affect not only movement and physical ability, but also confidence, independence, emotional wellbeing and social connection.
Rather than allowing Parkinson’s to dictate what people could or could not do, Tommy wanted to create a community where people could come together, stay active, build confidence and, most importantly, fight back against the challenges Parkinson’s can bring.
That vision led to the development of Rock Steady Boxing Widnes & Warrington, providing specialised, non-contact boxing-based exercise alongside friendship, support and a strong sense of belonging. What started with Tommy’s determination to help people affected by Parkinson’s has grown into a community of boxers, coaches, volunteers, families and friends who share the same belief: we are stronger together. Through the Foundation, Tommy continues to champion the importance of exercise, community and positivity, while creating opportunities for people affected by Parkinson’s to challenge themselves, discover what they are capable of and live life to the fullest. The Foundation’s message is simple — Parkinson’s may be part of our lives, but it does not have to control them. We fight back together.
